India 2009

Down to the Western Ghats and Kerala.

Clark's Exotica, Bangalore. Our first night stop.

A nice swmming area.

Yellow-footed Pigeons.

Changeable Hawk-Eagle on nest.

A baby Elephant. We knew some Elephant remained in the wild at Nagarhole.

Returning to the Lodge we found a Tigress by the bus stop!!

We had not come expecting Tiger this trip so it was a bonus.

She stalked off to the thicket.

And turned to watch us watching her.

She watches as some children get off the bus and walk past us.

Brahminy Kite.

I know him. I think he is in Government!

Intermediate Egret.

Anahinga (Snake bird)

We are on a boat in the lake.

Spot-billed Ducks and Grey Heron.

Elephants come out of the Forest to feed on the grassy shores.

So they do still live wild.

Squirrell.

And in the lake side grass we see another Tiger. Long way off but..

European Spoonbills.

Things can change quickly. One minute she is calmly dusting, The next...

.....She is coming to kill us!

Spotted Deer or Cheetal.

More elephant and breeding well.

This is a really big guy.

Quite calm with us.

A Waterfall.

Grey-bellied Cuckoo. (female)

We stopped near Periyar for supplies and noted this nice Temple.

The Gate to Periyar Reserve.

Our home. Aptly named "Forest Bungalow."

It comes with its own Tree Frog.

The Bungalow is obviously somebody's private home.

Imperial Green Pigeon.

Lion-tailed Macaque.

Such a nice bird. Could they not have found a better name than.......

Common Iora?

Tawny Fish Owl.

.

Elephants in this NP too.

They climb the steep slopes with ease.

And feed in the forest.

We climbed up to this lake for exercise and to feed the Leeches.
